In Hometown Heroes

Join us in celebrating Matt Hill as the Scheels Johnstown Colorado Hometown Hero!

Matt was born in 1996 in Wichita Kansas. As a child, Matt always knew he would serve in the United States Army. After graduating high school in 2015 Matt went to Fort Benning Georgia where he attended Army Bootcamp. After Bootcamp Matt was sent to Fort Riley Kansas where he carried out his duties as a Cavalry Scout. Matt was deployed twice, once to Korea and then to Kosovo for 9 months. Matt was injured on duty and forced to medically retire in 2021. When Matt got out of the military, he knew he wanted to help veterans transition out of the military. For the past year, Matt has worked at the Northern Colorado Veterans Resource Center where he has helped over 150 veterans. Most recently, Matt started working for the Veterans Community project which provides everything for Veterans to live in dignity and safety.
