Colonel Shane Martin has more than 35 years of Military Service. He joined the Nebraska Army National Guard in 1988 as a refueling specialist. He received his commission as an Armor Officer from the Nebraska National Guard Military Academy Officer Candidate School (OCS) in 1993. He is a graduate of the Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Transportation Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms Service and Staff School, Instructor Training Course, Command and General Staff College-ILE, Sustainment Pre-Command Course, Recruiting Pre-Command Course, Brigade Pre-Command Course, and Senior Service College-Army War College. Prior to his appointment as USPFO, his non-command assignments include enlisted petroleum supply specialist, and upon commissioning, Platoon Leader with both Company B and C 1-195 Armor, and Executive Officer with Co B 1-195th. Later, he was assigned as the 734th Trans Bn Maintenance Officer and then S1. He was mobilized as a TAC Officer for 3/11th Infantry Regiment-Federal OCS, FT Benning. He also held positions as the State Selective Service Officer, Facility Engineer, 41st ROC Plans Officer and then Assistant Ops/Sims Officer before mobilizing with the 67th BfSB as the Chief of Operations. While deployed, he was detailed to be the Executive Officer of the 325th MI Bn. COL Martin also served as the Construction and Facilities Management Officer/Director of Facilities Management for Nebraska.
His command assignments include Commander, Det 2, Co B, 735th MSB; Commander, Company B, 735th MSB; and Commander, 1618th Transportation Company. His Battalion Commands were Nebraska Training Center Command, and Recruiting and Retention Command. He was Regimental Commander of the 209th Regiment-Regional Training Institute for three years. Colonel Martin holds a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Nebraska.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with bronze oak leaf, Army Commendation Medal with silver oak leaf, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal with silver oak leaf, National Defense Service Medal with bronze star device, Iraq Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with silver hour glass and ‘M’ device, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, and Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon. He also has several Nebraska National Guard military awards.
In addition to Shane’s military career, he has also given back and been involved with his community in many ways including some of the following:

Beyond the non-profit organizations, Shane volunteers as a parent for activities such as post-prom, games, football sideline support, financial activity support, and numerous other activities for Seward High School & Middle School Shane also volunteers as a board member for the City of Seward Economic Board of Adjustments and supports many city activities/events as much as possible. Colonel Martin and his wife, Ann, reside in Seward, Nebraska with their two children, Ashley and Ayden.
