SCHEELS HOMETOWN HERO – MATT SMITH

 In Hometown Heroes

Join us in celebrating the Eden Prairie Scheels Hometown for May 2024, Matt Smith. For 14 years Matt was a member of the Norwood Young America volunteer fire department.

Matt specialized in their search and rescue crew, interior fire, hazardous materials operation, automotive extraction and was a key member with specialized training for the department. Matt through his building/construction career has been passionate about Veteran home builds for homeless and disabled veterans. He has been instrumental with Beyond the Yellow Ribbon and has been part of the Veteran Associate Resource group for the USLBM where they strive to donate a million dollars a year to the Gary Sinise foundation to build housing for combat Veterans.

Matt also volunteers at his church, helps with school sporting events, teaches fire safety to youth and is always involved in the community and helping others.
