SCHEELS HOMETOWN HERO ✪ ANTON JOHNSON

 In Hometown Heroes

Please join us in celebrating and honoring Anton as the Missoula Scheels Hometown Hero.

Anton enlisted in the Army when he was just 17 years old. He deployed to Afghanistan as Combat Engineer in 2004 and spent his time locating weapons caches and landmines. At 25 years old, Anton became Commander of the Ole Beck VFW Post 209, making him one of the youngest commanders in the Nation. He still holds this position a decade later.
Today, Anton works as a Veteran Outreach Specialist at the Vet Center. Additionally, he is the Executive Director of Xsports4Vets, a program that focuses on helping Veterans reintegrate and form a community. At Xsports4Vets, Anton works in conjunction with the Veteran Support Network and other community groups to run an annual Veteran Suicide Prevention and Awareness ruck marathon. He is also a certified Suicide Prevention trainer and presents suicide prevention information to others as often as he can.
On top of all of this, Anton also donates his time to Wounded Warrior Project as a Peer Support Specialist. He helps them connect with Veterans in Missoula and coordinates and facilitates their events in the community. WWP has also invited him to Washington DC for the last 3 years running to lobby for Veteran bills in Congress.

Thank you Anton for everything you’ve done for country and community!
